11:40am – after a 15 minute wait, we were seated at a corner booth (for 5)
Cute place mats
Looking through their menu, it took us a while to choose what we wanted. Maybe it was b/c the menu was pretty diverse or maybe it was because nothing in particular caught my eye.
Their daily special was a smoked salmon Benny with hash – $11.99 or $12.99 – which Carn.H decided to order:
It was SO good! Everything about it just came together so well. Usually, there’s always one element that’s off – the sauce consistency (maybe watery or too thick), poorly poached eggs, English muffins that are either stale or soggy, you know, that kind of flaw. But this Benny was just the way it should have been.
Just look at the yolk oozing out!
I finally decided on Sophie’s breakfast which came with 2 poached eggs, 2 slices of lightly buttered toast, salad and a seasonal fruit cup.
My medium poached eggs were just the way I liked them. The thin edges of egg white were overcooked but that’s really hard to avoid.
The salad was really fresh and the oil and vinegar dressing was light – but very acidic at the end – so use with caution!
The fruit salad had a nice variety, prepped fresh but the quality was just ok. At least they didn’t sugar glaze the fruit to pro-long shelf life.
What else was at our table:
French Toast (they were HUGE!)
Oyster Burger (M felt there was too much breading on the oysters and they were overfried ><)
